Sentinel Locomotives and Sentinel-Cammell Railcars - Their Design and Development
Claimed to be “the most detailed history of Sentinel locomotives and railcars yet attempted”, a claim we wouldn’t disagree with for a second. 348 pages in all cover every Sentinel from the beginning, until the end of production under Roll-Royce.
Thirty pages contain technical descriptions of the various boiler and engine designs used, the balance working their way through the assorted railcars for which Sentinel supplied the complete power units, and every class and variation of locomotive, steam or IC, narrow, standard or broad gauge, which emerged from the Shrewsbury works.
Exceptionally well illustrated with photos, mainly B&W but also colour, and works drawings. Eye opening, not least in detailing the large numbers of overseas railways which bought Sentinels between the Wars. Hardbound.
