The Official Guide to the Brighton and South Coast Railways and their branches

Published in 1854 and written by George Meason who also was responsible for the beautiful engraved illustrations, this is a guide to the railway lines which came ro form the Loindon, Brighton and South Coast Railway.

Also included is a descriptive guide the the Crystal Place at Sydenham, which is of considerable interest, and a 'topographical account of the Isle of Wight. 146 hardbound pages.

The Sunday Times of the period in reviewing this book said "The Illustrations are numerous, correct and well executed, and the information is ample, accurate and carefully conveyed. It is worthy of patronage" Who are we to disagree?

CONDITION - give that it is 170 years old, whilst worn and well used, the condition of this book is as one would expect, with marks around the outer edges, etc. However the pages are entirely readable, and the illustrations clear. A child has marked the front and rear endpapers, especially the later.
