The Route of the Chiefs
The story of Santta Fe passenger service, from the 12th May 1936 when the first Super Chief drew out of Chicago, bound for Los Angeles up to the coming of Amtrak.
As well as the Chief, here are El Capitan, The Fast Mail Express, The San Diegans, The Kansas Cityan, Chicagoan, The Kansas City Chief, The Golden Gates and Valley Flyer, The Tulsan, The Oil Flyer, The Texas Chief, The Grand Canyon and the San Francisco Chief, plus the little Chiefs which provided connecting services.
Plus there are the stations they served, the Fred Harvey orgaisation which provided the food on the trains, and at the stations, the Pasenger Card Fleet, and the Locomotive Fleet.
