Royal Air Force Fighting Biplanes
‘A Pictorial History of Front-Line Aircraft Between the Wars’, after just over 12 pages of text, from which I learn’t a lot about the RAF’s struggle for survival between the two World Wars, there follows 115 pages of B&W photos of biplanes which the RAF either used in service, or frequently rejected.
There are some beautiful aircraft here, some of which saw service during World War 11, but there are also plenty of oddities, or ugly duckling.
240 or so photos in all, many postcard size, and all with good captions. Needless to say the selection ends with the golden Fairey Swordfish, and Gloster Gladiator! A4 format paperback.
Good photos and a good read!
