Locomotives of Egypt - BARGAIN PRICE!
The main railways in Eqypt were very European, and specifically British, to look at and this particularly applied to the system's locomotives during the steam era.
They were aesthetically and technically well designed. For many years the major mainline locomotives were 'Atlantics' whose suitability to the generally flat lines north of Cairo meant they stayed in front-line service until well into the 1950s. Egyptian State Railways were also major users of 'Sentinel' steam railcars, both single and multiple-unit, as well as the unique Sentinel 2-2-2-2 tender locomotives, which had conventional outline superstructures.
85 steam era B&W photos and 21 diesel era photos, 19 0f which are colour. 80 landscape format pages and a quality paperback.
