Published in 1975, this is a very good book on the subject of the English fair an d its development from the very early trading get-togethers, to the loud and brightly lit events of the present. It also covers in some technical detail , the development of the fairground rides. Well worth having if  the sudden appearence of a fair in your area, and its disappearence  a few days tare has left you intrigued by them.
