Northamptonshire Narrow Gauge Railways in the 1960s
Up until the 1960s the county of Northampton was home to upwards of 30 railways with gauges from 2 foot to a metre, many of which still used steam power.
All, of course, were industrial lines, used for hauling a number of items, but especially ironstone around Kettering.
Sydney Leleux started visting and photographing these lines as a young man and here are around 190 largely B&W photos he took up until the lines' demise.
A lovely look at these very individual railways, their motive power - very varied in the case of the steam locomotives, their wagons and their methods of operation.
