The second volume in this fascinating set of books (the first will be found HERE) covering, in very considerable detail, how the Caledonian Railway ran its affairs.

The set really is very good, loaded with B&W photos, drawings, diagrams and the like, as well as information. Given the essentially dry nature of much of the information, it is also remarkably readable and humerous.

Combined, the two volumes will give the reader an affinity with man of the men in varied roles on the Caledonian and help him to understand the often complex issues with which they grappled. Students of other railways will undoubtedly wonder how their companies dealt with similar issues.
