Bassett-Lowke Art The Making of an Identity
Only a few remaining in stock of this now out of print book.
Wenman Bassett-Lowke founded a firm which became one of the world's most famous toy and model manufacturers, helped by his skill as a publicist.
This book looks at the considerable number of catalogues the firm produced over the years, and the artists who produced the cover artwork in particular, which included Cecil J. Allen, Henry Greenly, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Ernest Twining, plus many others.
Reproduced here are around 100 scans of catalogue covers, contents and artwork, a considerable percentage of which are in colour. Most have reproduced well, and illustrate just how wide a range of products this Northampton firm produced.
