"66 years of Modern Electric Tramways Limited", this is "the complete and official history of the Seaton and District Tramway, and the Modern Electric Tramways Company".
The Seaton Tramway has been open for all but 50 years, but it was preceeded by other minature tramways, all built and operated by Claude Lane, starting with a portable 15" gauge one used at fetes. This then moved, firstly to St. Leonards, then to Rhyl, finally to Eastbourne in 1954 where, with the gauge increased to 2 feet, it stayed until 1969.
At every point the fleet of cars increased, and some survived another increase in gauge to 2 feet 9 inches, when the whole concern moved to Seaton.
This is a fourth revised and enlarged edition of this title, bringing the story of one of Devon's main tourist attractions completely up to date. Contains a huge amount of information.
168 page paperback. 100s of B&W photos, plus system maps. 16 colour photos on the insides of the cover.
