Armadale to Aquila: The History of Vehicle Manufacturing in Hillingdon

£12.45

From the quirky Armadale tri-car built in Northwood around 1907 to the sophisticated Aquila sports car from Ickenham, the history of vehicle production in the London Borough of Hillingdon involves many different companies. In addition to motor cars, also made in the district were buses, lorries, fire engines, taxis, vans, motorcycles, caravans, bicycles, tankers, dumper trucks - and even Daleks!

All of these vehicles are chronicled in this book, together with an intriguing look into the mystery of who was the first person to drive a motor car on the streets of Uxbridge.

Evocative period illustrations (many previously unpublished) and personal reminiscences are combined with meticulous research and thoughtful, informed writing to make this a fascinating record of more than a century of local history.
