Ireland's Largest Industrial Railway - The Guinness System
We have had a book on the 1’ 10” gauge railway at the Guinness Brewery in Dublin before, but this is much better on the photographs and still has a detail, but more concise history, plus informative captions.
The 52 B & W photos cover the railway’s locomotives, steam and diesel, rolling stock and its activities around the huge site. Also covered are the unique ‘converter wagons’ which enabled the even more unique Geoghegan locomotives to run on the broad gauge tracks in the site, and the two Hudswell, Clarke saddle tanks also used on the broad gauge.
A fascinating look at a fascinating railway which finally closed in 1975.
