Model Locomotive Boilermaking
The late Alec Farmer was one of the co-founders of A.J. Reeves, the model engineering suppliers and, inter-alia, the firm’s boilermaker.
He was famed for the quality of his boilers, and he gave his talk Boilermaking without Tears, on which this book is based, to many Clubs. Simply put, it is the best book there is on building a copper boiler for a model steam locomotive, in this case to the 5” gauge ‘Torquay Manor’ design, although the information is universal.
Originally published by Patrick Stephens, then by the author, this reprint is a facsimile, as the original printing plates were lost, and the largely B&W photos have suffered as a result, although what is shown can be made out in most instances; the text is unaffected.
You may think the book is expensive, but the information in it really is priceless, and it is the only book to buy to guide you through the process of building copper boilers. 191 pages. 302 B&W photos and 16 colour photos. Paperback.
