The Campbeltown & Machrihanish Light Railway
The first edition of this book appeared in 1970, published by David & Charles
The subject is, of course, Scotland's only narrow gauge passenger hauling railway, the 2'3" gauge line from Campbeltown to Machrihanish on the west coast of the Kintryre peninsula. This originated as a coal hauling railway, but the coming of the turbine steamers to Clyde services brought tourists to the area, and hence the extension to Machrihanish.
Nigel Macmillan is the acknowledged authority on the line, having modelled it and all its rolling stock and locomotives. He is also a very good writer.
