A superb pictorial journey supported by 216 landscape very largely full page B&W photographs showing many of the light railways of the British Isles.

The journey starts in Jersey then moves across to mainland England, then Wales, on to Scotland before crossing to Ireland, finishing on the Isle of Man. Many of the lines featured were built under the provisions of the Light Railways Act (1896) and were both narrow or standard gauge and no less that 14 were Colonel Stephens' lines.
