The Whitaker Boring Machine
The story of the first machine to start boring a Channel Tunnel in 1922, but was stopped by political objections when only 128 metres of tunnel was completed.
The machine was stored in the hope that that tunnel would be revived, but when work was started on the tunnle we know today, the Whitaker machine was removed and put on exhbition after much cleaning.
